Bliss

In just a few hours I will be hopping a plane to Las Vegas w/ my DH. He and I have determined this is a very significant trip because we have not flown somewhere ALONE for a vacation ALONE since 2000. Don't get me wrong, we have had long weekends away to Natchitoches and New Orleans but those are usually one or two nighters. More significantly, we've never been to Vegas together w/o others on the trip. My grandparents took us and my parents right after we got married. What a magical trip!! We went with nothing but the clothes on our backs and came home with almost $800!! We learned to love gambling that magical Thanksgiving weekend. My beloved grandparents paid for everything including our gambling and insisted we keep our winnings! Our next two trips to Vegas were courtesy of my great uncle (the Priest) and great aunt (the Nun). We went with the two of them, my grandparents and my father. My mother stayed home both trips with Ash. My aunt and uncle split the cost of the trip and paid for everyone's airfare and hotel. My grandfather and father slipped us gambling money and paid for most of our meals. We used our money for souvenirs and tips. Then we went in 2005 with our dear friends C&G for New Years. We had a blast, stayed cheap and gambled cheap as it was our first trip on our dime.

Last year I went twice - once w/ C&G again for his 40th and then I went back w/o my DH for my own 40th bday along with my dear sisters. At the last minute, my father snagged a deal out there so he, mom and my brother were there at the same time but at a different hotel. The two trips last year consisted of keeping up with other people's schedules. We pretty much tried to do as much as a group or in small groups as possible. Although I had a blast both trips......I'm so looking forward to this trip where I'm on my own time. If I can just keep DH and his sightseeing to a minimum. I've been there 6 times already, I've pretty much seen what I wanted to see. I want to rest, eat and gamble. That is my whole agenda. As long as he doesn't make me spend days walking around to see the sights - we should be fine!!!

Things have been rough for us lately with the long cold winter, our poor dog's fading health and the kid's activity schedule. Seems like we are always going in different directions at all times. When we do have a free moment, we are cramming in catching up on tv shows and house chores. It will be so nice to have a couple of days to relax together. I think we are both hopeful there will be some reconnection going on over the next four days.

So get ready Las Vegas - here we come!!!!!!!!!
