Girl Time

I had a great surprise visitor today - my BFF came up for the afternoon and we had a chance to hang out w/o kids or hubbies (for the most part). It was nice!

I spent my morning looking at houses with my mom because it looks like they might have finally sold their house after a year of trying. There is always that chance the deal could go south but all signs seem to be pointing to a done deal! The sad part is that there was not a single house we toured today that I could imagine my parents spending their 'golden years' in together. There was the one with the great backyard but the house left alot to be desired and smelled musty. Then there was the one I thought had a good house flow and a good backyard (w/ a pool) but it is on a busy street so that is out. Then there was the nice house w/ the yucky backyard that turned my mom off because she's outside so much. It was a nightmare. This town is full of foreclosures but they are all on the really super expensive houses and not anything for under $300K.

So just as the day was getting depressing, D calls and says she's coming up to see me. I think we both needed a spouse break and some time together as we never seem to find time for that with our busy schedules. We hung out at my house until hubby got home to take over with the kids and then we were off to Sam's to buy stuff for CampAPhi (which is now only 10 days away)!!!! We stocked up on the chips and chocolate!! Then it was back to my house to unload the meltables. We were planning to meet CC for dinner when she was ready so we just sat and talked while we waited for her call. Finally, it was off to dinner in FTW where we enjoyed more good company and some really filling mexican food (and a beverage or two). I'm so glad she came up here today!! It makes getting ready for CampAPhi even more exciting because I know we will have 3 great days together at camp w/ the rest of our gang (and some newcomers).

I didn't get a thing accomplished at the house but that is absolutely OK with me!!! It is worth putting aside housework for some serious quality girl time!!!!
