Hiking, canoeing and stars......

So I packed A off to Camp this week. The entire fifth grade (minus one lonely boy who chose not to go) headed to Graford for four days of nature walks, canoe rides, watching stars and telling ghost stories!! This is an annual event at our elementary and something that A has looked forward to since kindergarten. Somehow in the same weekend that we pulled off the largest bday party in history (rain included), I also managed to label every pair of underwear, shorts, tops, toiletry items, etc. that needed to go to camp. The morning of the bday party, I am frantically trying to get the last of her gear packed into the duffel bag so we wouldn't have to worry about it for the next few nights. I discovered that somehow my daughter made it thru the entire summer with very few pair of shorts and the few she had were not appropriate for hiking. Bless my mother's heart, she came to the rescue again and shopped all day Monday until she found four pair suitable for camp. I miss A like crazy and am counting down the hours til she is home to tell me about the experience.

The birthday party was a huge hit with the 10-11 yr old crowd. They loved the pool, loved the music and even loved the downpour of rain that took over the last hour of the party. Luckily, no lightning so they could play in the rain for that hour. The parents had the pleasure of trying to keep the food, cake and gifts dry but the kids could care less. They didn't mind soggy cake or chips. It was just too fun playing in the rain. A received so many gift cards as gifts, it might take us about six months to get to each and every store to spend them. She'll love it though and I'll survive.

E is still loving school this year and cracking me up with everything he's learning. He recently informed us that he has "kinky poop": translation - stinky poop. I love the stuff that comes out of this kid's mouth. So now things in our house are no longer stinky but kinky!! Life with a son is a never ending barrel of laughs!

Make sure to check A for ticks when she gets back. Coop went on a similiar trip with his 5th grade class last year and what I thought at first to be a mole ended up to be a TICK! Just a warning from the experienced! :)

And if your house is getting "kinky" then I want details!! LOL ;)
