Sisters and kids

Well, A came home from camp completely thrilled with the world. She and her cabinmates had an absolutely wonderful week and would go back in a heartbeat. Her and one of her cabinmates sang me many lovely camp songs at H's little sister's birthday party Friday evening. A went to the party to keep her friend from going crazy being surrounded by 7 yr olds. The two of them entertained me for an hour with tales from camp and a lovely song about "baby sharks...dodododododo". It is now permanately stuck in my head. The biggest downside of camp (besides the song in my head) was her complete exhaustion. We signed her up for a tennis tournament on Saturday and that turned out to be a complete waste of the entry fee since she hadn't had a lesson all week and was too tired to move her feet on the court. Oh well, it got me out in the sunshine for a few hours and we watched some of her friends play some great matches!

Then Saturday night, I got some sister time with my Phis!!! We met for dinner (seven of us). We had our typical interesting conversations, completely wore out our waiter (who was severly lacking in manners and personality), and laughed alot (especially when we found out what side Chele brings out in Steph - you go girls!!). After dinner, we rushed to Kara's house for a special "toy" party (sorry for being late Kara - but we are Phis, what else would you expect?)!! The party was a blast but the highlight was walking thru the door and seeing my pledge sister, Candace after all these years. I have not see her since a year or two into married life so it's been about 15 yrs. She hasn't changed a bit (that dirty dog). I have so many funny stories about Candace but I'll save those for another day! Candace brought Christy with her which is another Phi I had not seen since forever ago! We had a great time at the party, caught up on each other's lives and laughed a whole lot. Missed my BFF alot at this party - parties like this are made for her and I because we are so wickedly funny when it comes to stuff like this. But she was off selling sausage and apparently tending to one very sick child. Turns out her daughter came up with pneumonia over the weekend. Yikes!

Sunday consisted of more bad tennis and a promise that we will not allow A to miss another week of practice if she seriously wants to be more competitive in tennis. I feel like she's getting to that age where she has to make a choice between tennis and a social life (which is awful in my humble opinion but a reality in today's highly competitive world of children's sports). What exactly are we setting them up for by pushing them so hard? I'm not sure but I know she doesn't want to get left behind at this point so most of the pushing comes from within.

Mr. E spent the weekend being dragged along to all the tennis functions. He's a real trooper and seems to enjoy himself. Of course, his little allergies are out of control now thanks to being outside so much. In the tub last night, he rolls onto his tummy, looks back over his shoulder and announces "mommy, I see my butt". You had to be there - it was too funny. It's like he discovered it for the first time! He cracks me up!

Counting down the days to the all day Creative Memories Scrapbook event: 5 ~~ Yippee!!!!
