My BFF and her daughter were planning to come up on Saturday to watch Ash in a tennis tournament, pick up Scentsy and hang out. Imagine my surprise when she calls to say she'd been in an accident an hour from her house and wouldn't make it after all. They were okay, thank God. A couple cars in front of them - the sunroof came off and slammed into Deb's windshield. Yep, the sunroof just flew thru the air!!! I've seen flying debris on the highways and it can be pretty scary. Imagine it actually hitting you? Luckily, it hit in the top driver's corner so the metal of the car prevented it from actually flying thru the windshield and into the car. Yes, she realizes how lucky she is. Unbelievably, she picked up a rental and made the trip up on Sunday instead. I might have taken the flying sunroof as a sign that I shouldn't travel but she is more of a trooper than I am. She met me for lunch in NRH (MJC and family met us too).
After lunch, Deb and S accompanied me on my dress shopping excursion. I needed a gown for the Cotillion ball this Friday (I'm a chaperon). Have I mentioned that I'm not a big fan of dresses or skirts? My DH calls me Ellen. I used to wear dresses back when I had actual ankles (heck I went to a Catholic school for 7 years and wore skirt every day) but for about the last 10 years, dresses are only worn when absolutely necessary and I cannot find a suitable pantsuit to wear in it's place. The cotillion ball is one of these occasions where pants just won't due. Deb actually picked out a nice dress after helping me put together two skirt ensembles. The 70% off dress won hands down! Between the fact that I will probably never wear this dress again and the fact that the shirt outfits were going to run me close to $200 and the lovely fact that the dress actually looked best - it was a no brainer. Afterwards, we took Deb's daughter to Sweet and Sassy for the time of her life!! One mini-pedi, fingernail painting, glitter stamps on her face and some glitter spray in the hair later and she was announcing that she felt like a new person. I got a kick out of watching her enjoy the pampering and was a bit jealous that they won't pamper adults for the price they will pamper kids!!!
And the best part of the weekend was watching Ash win 1st place in her tournament on Saturday!!! The wind was tornado like and somehow she managed to use it to her advantage and beat three opponents to win the trophy!! We have another one this coming weekend in Allen and if she can make it to the finals, she will Champ up (which means she makes it to the next level of play - a goal of hers for the past few months). She is ranked #2 in this upcoming tournament which is a pretty big deal all by itself. Seems like all the years of lessons are paying off!!
P.S. - I actually completed 3 pages in E's scrapbook last night. Not sure what got into me. :-)
