Dh, the kids and I are going to San Antonio for Spring Break. The room has been booked for over a month, Asta has a room at the boarder, the Sea World tickets have been purchased - and then Mother Nature takes over. The fine folks on the Weather Channel inform us last night that the high in SA on Friday will be a balmy 40 degrees and it will rain all day long! So after some discussion last night, a night to sleep on it and some more discussions today - we are pushing our travel plans out a day to give it time to warm up to a reasonable spring break temperature. Of course, this will mean fighting the crowds at Sea World which totally defeats our original purpose for going on Friday to beat the crowds. Now I have to break it to my dear daughter that she will be going to school for part of the day on Friday after all. Sorry Ash!!!
The other trip that had been causing me some grief is the trip to Vegas for my 40th bday. We were all set w/ reservations at Harrah's thru vegas.com until I went to Vegas in February and decided I didn't like Harrah's as much as Flamingo. When I checked prices that following week at Flamingo, they had great deals on their Deluxe rooms so I booked one room, cancelled my reservation at Harrah's and sent an email to my friend that had booked the other room for our group. Never crossed my mind that she might not be able to book her room right away. So imagine my surprise when she calls me that Thursday night and leaves a msg. saying the room rates had gone up $300 since I booked. Not wanting to ask everyone to pony up a lot of extra money, I've spent the past week fretting, calling, emailing, fretting some more about what to do about a 2nd room. Finally a friend of my dad's came thru as he has a contact at the casinos. She got us our 2nd room. It's more than I paid for the first room but not significantly more like we were looking at last week. I won't feel totally at ease until she sends my confirmation # but I am at least no longer fretting! My parents and brother have decided to make the trip out there the same weekend but they will be staying on the other side of the strip. It will be nice to have them out there - especially my brother because I know he'll have a blast with me and my friends. It will also be nice to have my mom there for my birthday because I was feeling bad about leaving town that weekend since she had been planning to throw me a surprise party.
I'm hoping the purpose for all this rain (besides ending the drought conditions in the area) is to wash away all the pollen and crap in the air so my son can finally function w/o a runny nose and itchy eyes. Poor baby just rubs those eyes 24/7. Even his teacher has had to give him a rag for his eyes after they play outside the past few days. Come on rain - wash the funk out of the air!!!
And a special mention for my BFF who is going thru some health related items right now and could really use some prayers and good thoughts. I need her in one piece and healthy so I can drag her back to Vegas when she turns 40!!!!
